For 40 years, Djarum has been a global leader in the kretek tobacco industry, with a focus on creating unique smoking experiences that combine the best of traditional Indonesian spices and premium tobacco.
One of the key elements that sets Djarum apart is our use of clove in our products. Clove has been a staple of Indonesian cuisine and traditional medicine for centuries, and we've incorporated this unique flavor into our tobacco blends to create a one-of-a-kind smoking experience. The name kretek comes from the sensation of clove when its burn and make crackling sound.
Djarum has been a presence in Europe for 30 years, and we're proud to have brought our unique blends to the continent. Our newest innovation, Kretek Filter Cigarillos launched in Europe in 2016 included three distinct flavors – Djarum Super, Djarum Black, and Djarum Special. Djarum first launched to Austria, Netherlands, Czech, and Germany, and we've been expanding ever since. In 2017, we added Hungary, Poland, and Romania to our list of markets. Kretek Filter Cigarillos quickly gained popularity and to capture market demand, Djarum expanded to include additional variants such as Djarum Black Emerald, Djarum Black Ruby, Djarum Black Garnet, and Djarum Black Ivory. Each of our blends is carefully crafted to deliver a satisfying smoking experience with a unique taste and aroma.
